Summer Reading 2017

The incoming eighth graders will have to complete four summer reading assignments during the summer of 2017.

First, every eighth grader will read Gone by Michael Grant and complete the study guide for the first day of school. The Study Guide will be available on this website shortly.

Second, the students can choose between two books for their second book: Unwind by Neal Shusterman or The Loners by Lex Thomas. Students do not have to complete any additional work on these two books, but please be prepared to discuss/write about the book you choose.

Third, the students can choose between two movies to watch: The Hunger Games or The Maze Runner (the first movie of each franchise). You do not have to complete any additional work on the movie you choose, but be prepared to discuss/write about the movie you choose.

Fourth, the students will complete a reading log, which will also be available on this website shortly. The aforementioned two books must appear on your reading log, yet the more books you read, the better! Anyone who reads any books in addition to the required reading will be rewarded. Rewards will be based on how many books are read. I encourage you to read as much as possible!

Please follow me on Instagram @mrs.desimone as I will try to post questions and those who comment the most will be able to earn a reward in September as well. Homework and reminders will be posted on Instagram in September as well.

Welcome Baby Henry!

Baby Henry David was born on Wednesday, April 18th, 2018, weighing 8 pounds and 4 ounces and measuring 20.5 inches long. Baby Henry came early because Mommy had sudden onset of a disorder called HELLP Syndrome and the doctors felt the best treatment for everyone was to make an early entrance! Maybe we can visit in June after all!
