Do Now
Complete Holt Handbook Page 111: Review C in grammar section of notebook
REMINDER
- Participles: -ed, -ing, or irregularly formed past tense verbs acting as adjectives (can be removed from the sentence)
- Gerunds: -ing endings only acting as nouns (cannot be removed from the sentence)
- Infinitive: to + verb
After you finish grammar, you have a choice:
1) Write a retelling of "Broken Chain" by Gary Soto in the literature section of your notebook (use the Retelling Guide and/or the Rating Sheet on Elements of Literature page 15-16) -- you might want to do this if your friend did not give you a 3/3 for every category on your "The Wise Old Woman" Retelling and you need more practice
2) Create a plot map using the graphic organizer on Elements of Literature page 3 as an example. You will draw this yourself in your literature section of your notebook (draw it the size of a whole page)
PERIOD 7 ONLY - Finish reading "Broken Chain" from where we left off to the end of the story
