Summer Reading Compare and Contrast Essay

Your SUMMER READING COMPARE AND CONTRAST ESSAY is due on Sunday, October 1st, 2017 at 8:00P.M. Please SHARE your completed document with me at bogotaenglish8@gmail.com  by this time. Any essay that comes in after this date/time will be deleted. If you are submitting an essay to me after this time, you must schedule an after-school appointment with me to discuss your essay so I can provide commentary. You will not receive credit. All essays that come in on time will earn a 50/50 for a homework grade. I will provide my commentary for use for revisions for your final draft. (due date to be determined).

Pre-Assessment You will take your Reading Pre-Assessment today. It will NOT count as a grade for this marking period. However, you will take the SAME test in January, after we have worked on many of these skills, and then it will count as a QUIZ grade.  You must use a PENCIL for the SCAN TRON. Do Now SSR Time (15 minutes) We will begin to keep our daily reading logs tomorrow. Grammar Review Simple and Complete Predicates (period 1 only) I will check Grammar homework tomorrow and we will move on to the next page tomorrow as well. Literature Complete Summer Reading chart -- they are on the back table. You must work with someone who read the book/watched the movie that you didn't in order to complete this. We will talk about this tomorrow and we will begin to discuss possible topics for a compare and contrast essay. Homework Remember, you should be reading your SSR book EVERY DAY  both in class and at  home. Whatever book YOU chose, you must finish it by October 10th.  You will have a Grammar Chapter 1 Quiz Friday or Monday next week. If you finish early, read your SSR book.
