Unfortunately, we do not have the Chromebooks today. However, you may hand write your first body paragraph in the Writing section of your English notebook or you may access Google Docs on your phone/school i-Pad


Body Paragraph (you will need at least 2, perhaps 3 body paragraphs total)
11)    Restate your topic (for this paragraph only) in different words
  • example: As mentioned before, both the settings for Gone and The Loners are enclosed.



22)    Supporting details (examples from the book) (2 from each thing you are comparing)
a.    3-4 sentences
b.    Try to use an exact quote
                                          i.    Use a parenthetical citation ex. (DeSimone 1).
example: In Gone, the characters are trapped inside a giant dome-like barrier that spans about twenty miles in diameters. The small town of Perdido Beach is inside this area. A character named Howard nicknames the area the FAYZ: "I came up with that myself. FAYZ. Spelled F-A-Y-Z. It stands for Fallout Alley Youth Zone. Fallout Alley, and nothing but kids" (Grant 91). Similarly, in The Loners, characters are trapped inside a newly built high school, McKinley. They are quarantined by military personnel after a virus makes the teenagers inside deadly to those outside of the building. 
3)    Restating the topic again (in different words)
  • example: The characters in both of these novels are trapped inside their settings, although they are trapped for different reasons.

Welcome Baby Henry!

Baby Henry David was born on Wednesday, April 18th, 2018, weighing 8 pounds and 4 ounces and measuring 20.5 inches long. Baby Henry came early because Mommy had sudden onset of a disorder called HELLP Syndrome and the doctors felt the best treatment for everyone was to make an early entrance! Maybe we can visit in June after all!
