Writing
Today, we will have the Chromebooks! Yay!
Please type any body paragraphs you have written in your notebook.

We will be working on on conclusion today.

How to Write A Compare and Contrast Conclusion
1) Restate your claim/thesis statement again in different words
  • example: Clearly, the enclosed settings of Gone and The Loners have many similarities and differences.
2) Summarize each body paragraph into a sentence (one sentence per body paragraph)
  • example: The biggest similarity is that both novels take place in an enclosed setting -- the FAYZ and McKinley High School.
  • example: However, the ages of the inhabitants of these settings plays a big part in how responsible they act; the "older" fourteen-year-olds in the FAYZ must care for the younger children, so they act more mature than the carefree and violent residents of McKinley
  • example: (I will need 1-2 more sentences to summarize the body paragraphs I haven't written yet
3) Clincher ( This is the LAST sentence I will read before I give you a grade! Make sure it is a good one!)
  • You can..
    • restate your thesis again in different words, summarizing everything
      • example: The ages of the inhabitants of each of these settings greatly influenced the level of responsibility that the characters exhibit and the outcome of the story.
    • make an evaluative statement about how you would react to such a situation.
      • example: I hope that if the students of Bogota are ever encased in the town or the school that they act as responsibly as many of the characters in FAYZ!
WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED, SHARE THE DOCUMENT WITH ME AT BOGOTAENGLISH8@GMAIL.COM -- PUT YOUR NAME (FIRST AND LAST) AND YOUR PERIOD # AS THE TITLE/SUBJECT)
