GRAMMAR CHAPTER 5 EXTRA CREDIT
You may make corrections to your quiz when we go over it (most likely on Thursday or Friday) for five points extra credit. You may also have a parent sign your quiz for five more additional points of extra credit.
You may complete the following assignment for up to ten points of extra credit.
Write your heading (name, English 8, Period, Date) in the left hand corner of your paper. Label your assignment "Grammar Chapter 5 Extra Credit". Write sentences using the following phrases following the directions in parantheses.
1. after the game (use as an adjective phrase)
2. instead of your good shoes (use as a prepositional phrase)
3. in the Shakespeare play (use as a prepositional phrase)
4. going to school every day (use as gerund phrase)
5. living in a small town (use a participial phrase)
6. walking threw the empty lot (use as a gerund phrase as a subject of the sentence)
7. dressed in authentic costumes (use as a participial phrase)
8. to drive a car for the first time (use as an infinitive phrase)
9. the best athlete in our school (use as an appositive phrase)
10. my favorite pastime (use as an appositive phrase)
Your sentences must be well-written and demonstrate appropriate sentence structure in order to receive credit.
