Welcome Baby Henry!

Image
Baby Henry David was born on Wednesday, April 18th, 2018, weighing 8 pounds and 4 ounces and measuring 20.5 inches long. Baby Henry came early because Mommy had sudden onset of a disorder called HELLP Syndrome and the doctors felt the best treatment for everyone was to make an early entrance! Maybe we can visit in June after all!

DeSimone Update 4/17/18

Hi, Friends! I have finished your marking period three grades! Now I can put these swollen feet up and relax! Mr. Murphy will pass back the rest of the Grammar Chapter 5 Quizzes (Period 2-3, 5-6, and 6-7) with the updated extra credit grades. He will also pass back the grading rubrics for your personal narratives. Personal Narrative Grades -   I modified the rubric that I used for your Compare and Contrast Essay, which is also the rubric used on the PARCC. Essentially, I was looking for a fully developed plot/story, fully developed characters and setting, and appropriate and frequent dialogue that was punctuated correctly. I wrote this in on most rubrics. The Period 6-7 and any rubrics   for essays submitted after April 9th are not included in what is being passed back today. All of your grades are in Real Time for the third marking period. Everything else I have in my possession will be passed back next week. If you have any questions, please e-mail me, but I wil...

DeSimone Update 4/10/18

Hi, friends! I have finished grading all SSR Logs and they have been returned to school with their checklists. All grades appear in Real Time. I organized them by class period and Mr. Murphy will pass them back to you today. If by some chance, you still have an SSR Log that you would like graded, you must speak to Mr. Murphy about it. You will lose 20 points for lateness, and whether or not Mr. Murphy chooses to grade them for this final test grade of marking period three is entirely up to him. I have awarded extra credit as appropriate on the Grammar Chapter 5 Quizzes for corrections, signatures, and extra credit assignments completed. All updated grades appear in Real Time, but only Period 1-2 quizzes have been returned to school. I have begun to grade the Literature Test Extra Credit and Personal Narratives. Grades appear in Real time for Period 1-2 only. However, it appears that many people failed to share their final draft with me as I asked. It is possible that your ...

Spring Recess Update 3/31/18

I have graded all Literature Chapter One Tests. The grades are in RealTime. Period 6-7 ONLY will have until Thursday, April 5th, 2018 at 11:00A.M. to complete extra credit because their grades went in significantly later than the other classes. I apologize for that. Please make sure you title the document Literature Extra Credit, as I will have personal narratives in my inbox and I do not want to get them confused. I have begin to grade the SSR Timeline Projects. All of Period 1-2's grades are listed in Real Time. If a zero appears, you have not handed in this assignment in. You may submit your Timeline for late credit (50 points) by Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018 at 11:00A.M. I will not accept this assignment later than that, as I will be finished grading them by then. All Timelines that I have in my possession will be graded for FULL credit, ev...

School Walk UP Day

School Walk UP Day In addition to National School Walk OUT Day yesterday to raise awareness and protest gun violence in schools, many schools across the nation sponsored National School Walk UP Day to promote kindness and empathy to other students.  It is always important to be kind to each other and to your teachers. You have no idea how a small act of kindness -- like saying hello to a teacher or another student you don't always talk to -- can make such a big difference in their day. In honor of School Walk UP Day, I'd like to do a similar activity to promote kindness and empathy within our school community. I challenge you to perform SEVENTEEN random acts of kindness in our school over the next two weeks.  Some suggestions: - Invite a student who typically sits alone at lunch to sit with you and your group of friends.  - Smile and say hello to a student (or a teacher) that you do not know. - Write a teacher a thank you note telling him or her...
